Keyboard Preview
The keyboard is the input device that you can use to send commands or write text. Different keyboards have different layouts. In addition, something like the DELETE, BACKSPACE, PAGE UP, & PAGE DOWN functions can convert from one program to another.
1). Function Keys: Keys from F1 to F12 are function keys. It is used for some other purposes. Their work varies according to the program. In most programs, with the F1 key, you can go to the help file related to any program. Some keyboards have a few function keys.
2). Control Keys: Keys such as Control (CTRL), SHIFT, SPACEBAR, ALT, CAPS LOCK, and TAB are special keys. These special keys perform a special function depending on when and where they are used. Most keyboards include a special key called the Windows logo key. This key is between the CTRL & ALT. This key is used to open the Start menu or to work as a window together with other keys.
3). Main typing keys: These keys are used to write letters & numbers.
4). Punctuation keys: which includes punctuation marks like colon (:), semicolon (;), question marks (?), signal quotation marks (‘ ‘), and double quotation marks (“ ”).
5). Enter Key: Depending on the brand of computer you are using, this key may be labeled ENTER or RETURN. Use the ENTER or RETURN keys to move the cursor to the beginning of the next line. In some programs, it is used to send commands to the computer and to confirm an action.
6). Delete & Backspace keys: Keys such as INSERT (INS), DELETE (DEL), and BACKSPACE are command keys. When the INSERT key is turned on, it helps in overwriting the characters on the right side of the When the INSERT key is closed, it helps you write the text or character on the right side of the cursor without overwriting the character on the right side of the text. The DELETE key and the BACKSPACE key are used to erase text written to the left of the cursor.
7). Directional Keys: Keys such as the Arrow key, HOME, END, PAGE UP, and PAGE DOWN are called navigation keys. Arrow keys are used to move cursors right, left, upward, and downward. The home key moves the cursor to the left end of a line of text. The END key appears on the last line of the cursor. When looking at a document, the page-up key is used to go up a page, or the page-down key is used to go down a page.
8). Numeric keypad: There is no numeric key available on every keyboard. If available, it is a separate group of keys with numbers 0 to 9, decimals, special characters, and navigation codes. In this keypad key, the NUM LOCK key, you can use numeric and navigation keys.
