Sex Trafficking
Through websites, social media, or online forums, traffickers advertise and plan commercial sex acts, which is how the online sex trade takes place. They use the anonymity of the internet to reach out to possible victims, so it’s important to be cautious when interacting online and report any suspicious activity.
To keep ourselves safe:
1. Use caution when using social media. Refrain from disclosing private information on open profiles since human traffickers might utilize social media to locate and ensnare possible victims.
2. Identify warning signs in digital communication: unsolicited messages or offers, particularly those that offer quick money or vacation opportunities, should be avoided as they may be traffickers’ enticements.
3. Use privacy settings: To manage who can access your personal information, regularly check and reinforce privacy settings on social media accounts and other online platforms.
4. Report suspicious activity: To aid in the fight against sex trafficking, report any online communications or content that seems suspicious to law enforcement or relevant hotlines.
