Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) is a nationwide initiative in India aimed at providing a single point of contact for citizens in emergencies. Utilizing the unified emergency number 112, the system ensures prompt assistance in times of crisis.

Under ERSS, every State and Union Territory (UT) is mandated to establish dedicated Emergency Response Centres (ERCs). These centres are equipped to handle a variety of emergency situations, including those requiring police intervention, fire and rescue services, medical assistance, and more.

In the event of an emergency, individuals can swiftly reach out to the appropriate authorities by dialing 112. Whether it’s a medical emergency, a fire, or a crime, citizens can rely on the ERSS to connect them with the necessary assistance without delay.

By centralizing emergency response services under a single, easy-to-remember number, ERSS streamlines the process of seeking help during critical moments. This initiative underscores the commitment of the Indian government to ensuring the safety and security of its citizens nationwide.

1. Dial 112 from your phone.
2. Press the power button on your smart phone 3 times quickly to activate Panic Call.
3. In the case of a feature phone, long press the ‘5’ or ‘9’ key to activate Panic Call.
4. Log on to the State ERSS website and place your SOS request.
5. Email SOS alert to State ERC, and
6. Use the 112 India Mobile App (available in the Google Play Store and Apple Store) to activate a panic call to ERC.
